Embracing change

Image
Before After Well I did it! I went and got my hair cut..... A big decision and one I am regretting. Once I got it cut I could of cried. I almost did cry. I might still cry..... I had grown it out for a year or so and really enjoyed the long hair. I always keep it in a ponytail. So it wasn't hanging in my food or my art work.  Well I decided to get it cut because I was having a painful scalp. I had read that when you wear your hair up all the time your scalp can hurt.  Well mine hurt, so I made the decision to get it cut. Well... My scalp doesn't hurt now but I miss my hair. I had it cut in a long shag. Once it was cut it started to curl. And I mean curl. I have always had a natural wave to my hair but never big fat curls. Well guess what! Now I have a curly shag. Who would of guessed it? Not me.. Well.. my hair is cut and not much I can do now. Other than embrace the change... So embracing is what I will do..

Rain, Rain, Rain........

Image
Hi there Blogger Friends... It seems Wisconsin this spring is going to be a time of continuous rain and swamp like conditions. I actually have several forms of Fungi growing in my yard.  Odd to see it like this since our spring time is normally full of sunshine and flowers. I do have flowers blooming but not to well. Since every time they are in full bloom hail or wind or rain seem to come by and wipe them out. My baskets all look a bit bedraggled. I have a few photos to share today but they were taken on a good sunny day. Wishing you a great week...

Summer Break

Image
Spending time in my gardens with my New Prima Travelers Notebook. Nothing quite as relaxing as meditating and recording my thoughts in the evening. The kids are playing and I hear there giggles and their squabbles over who's turn it is to be "it" at hide and seek. My gardens and kids are both growing like weeds. Matter of fact my weeds are doing exceptionally well these days.  We are spending our summer break at the beach, playing hide and seek, and gardening.  It's all good.....

A rainy day in Wisconsin

Image
Well Friends... it's raining... It seems this spring that is all it does in the northland. I did get a few days to garden and for that I am so thankful. I have lots to do and am anxious to get it done. I love to be outside. Nothing better than having my hands in the dirt. Sitting outside listening to the birds singing and my children laughing. Such pleasures of life. I pray your spring season is full of joy and love and your are enjoying your many gifts the Lord has bestowed on you and your family. Hugs... Dawn

What gifts will you give?

Image
What gifts will you give this year? I have been doing a lot of thinking this year about the Christmas season. What I love most about it is all the planning, shopping, baking, gifting, feasting, decorating, etc. I love it all so much that it is a let down to me after all that is finished. But this year it has really been on my heart about why we Christian's celebrate Christmas?  We are to find joy in knowing that our Savior was born in a humble stable on a cold night. He came to our sinful world to give us the gift of his wisdom, peace, love and eventually his life. He had no other gifts. No shiny new toys, fancy Christmas lights, no big screen tvs, no games. He gave himself for us.  So as this Christmas season closes in on us my thoughts are on what gifts can I give to Jesus. What gifts will I bring to Jesus this year? Will it be a smidgeon of my time, a thoughtless prayer of thankfulness, a pittance of my earnings? As I ponder these things I am prayerful that this year i...

Our Family

Image
As some of you know we have been foster parents for many years(almost 30). In that time we have raised our two biological daughters as well as one adopted daughter. Over the years we have had around 50 kids that have come and gone. At the time of this writing we have 6 children living in out home. A sibling group. A beautiful group of kids whom need love and care. They are a young group. The ages are as follows: 7,6, 4,3,3,and 18 months. They keep us very busy with all the activities they are busy with. Some of them have been with us for two years. The rest came this past May. It is odd how the Lord works in our lives. We had just decided on adopting a large sibling group and had finished the necessary adoption paperwork. We were looking at adopting a group from Texas or Oklahoma. We had requested in our license that their ages be between 8 and 17. There were several groups available. The day our adoption certificate was approved the Lord placed these children in our care. We ha...

When life is hard....

My life as of late has been up and down. My heart has been ripped out and shredded like newspaper. Dealing with our adopted teenage daughter has brought me to tears and regrets. I'm not sure how I can love someone who continues to treat me poorly. How long does a mother go on loving and hurting for a child who doesn't want the same thing? How many times can we fight and not give up. She has given up and moved out. My heart breaks...

Our tea party tent

My husband and I made this tent for all the kids who like to come over and play at our house. It's tea party time! It wasn't that hard to make. The second one will be a lot easier!
